Founded in 1989 by the former New York City principal dancer Damian Woetzel, Vail Dance Festival has grown to become one of the world's most renowned dance and arts festivals. Although it started in its early years with a primary focus on ballet only, it grew more inclusive to highlight several dance genres. Modern dance, tap, and contemporary dance, among many others, started to gain the spotlight in the late 90s and early 2000s. As a result, many renowned dance organizations and dancers participate in this annual celebration of dance and artistry.
Located in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the Vail Dance Festival is a two-week-long celebration of extraordinary artistic achievement.
